Public Mobile Addon vs. Roam Mobility in the Usa for 2 Weeks

Question almost using PM in the US. I originally posted this in the expired PM bargain thread but I judge no-one looks there. I idea I'd try here.

I'm heading to Florida soon for 2 weeks. For years until at present, I've used Roam Mobility very successfully even though Roam support isn't what it used to be. The concluding time I used Roam was last June and it was fine. Now, having switched to Public's $25 plan, I have the option of just adding a Public Mobile The states, Talk, Text, & Data addition bundle rather than going with Roam.

What that does is save me the task of swapping out sim cards and crossing the border would be transparent. If I purchase the Public addition, I would need 2 addons of x days each even though I'll be gone for fifteen days. If I bought the Roam Mobility lite monthly top-up, the toll would be the same ($forty) simply i would get more (probably faster) data that I'm not likely to use up.

Likewise, you can't schedule the PM US addon to start at a later engagement/time like you tin with Roam. It starts the moment you add it and after the tenth day, you have to add some other 10 days. The process, peculiarly with autopay, seems a bit convoluted as you have to add funds showtime before actually buying the addon.

So the question is: Has anyone used the Public Mobile US add together-on - especially effectually Fort Lauderdale? How was it? I assume information technology'due south similar to Telus reliability however I haven't been able to find adequate details on the Public website. Except for the swap of SIM card and not having my Canadian phone number available, Roam seems like the amend choice.

Used Public Mobile US-roaming many times, pretty simple to setup. Nice to not have to change numbers, only wish it came with more data than 250MB which is really but plenty for iMessage, some emails and the occasional google search for restaurant or store opening hours. Very important to connect to costless wifi whenever possible to maximize its use. Yous tin can sign upwards from wifi when y'all get down to also maximize the time you get, merely not a big problem if you know you lot'll have 5 unused days on it, so just enable from the safety of home earlier you go, Have used all over Florida with happy results.

The trouble with PM US roaming add-on is only 10 days. Yous cannot get the aforementioned addition until the get-go one expires. I read that you need to wait sometime subsequently the showtime i expired earlier yous can get the second one. Correct me if I am wrong.

Text bulletin stops working for 1 24-hour interval afterward coming dorsum. I would get Roam Mobility at the same cost. I don't want to fool around with add-on during my vacation.

Have besides many phones... This is how I limit my monthly phone payment.
Public Mobile $35 5GB, $11 250MB, 2x $5 50min/50text, Zoomer $36 6GB programme,
Fido $5 4GB programme with a costless tablet, $0 FPL home phone.

I'g leaning on taking embguy's advice. The PM addon has its benefits but I recall Roam is probably a better deal for the aforementioned money.

While, information technology'south not major, Roam doesn't charge PST for its topup. Does PM charge PST?

PM is corking if you're going for 10 days or less (although for significantly less, like ii-three days might non be worth it). Otherwise it's a pain in the ass. Also a pain in the ass if it ends up not activating properly, which happened to a couple of my buddies.

I was there for iii weeks and used Lycamobile, which resells T-Mobile. It was $20 CDN off Amazon for 30 days. Worked great for LTE, texts, vocalism, etc... The PM AddOn cost is high and buying it is a two stage process. Moreover, it starts the moment you purchase it. That was one reason I opened a line with them only to detect the US roaming options were not great.

I think since my friends there know my Cdn and Roam number, I'll merely stick to Roam for this trip.
If I didn't already have a telephone number and a sim card, Lycamobile seems like a very practiced alternative.

My trip is this week. I bought my top upwardly for my Roam SIM and am ready to go.
I'd like to frontward my Canadian cell phone number to my Canadian VOIP number while I'thousand in the states and then answer the VOIP call with Groundwire.
So I have a couple of questions most Public Mobile Call Forwarding.

1. Does PM accuse for call forwarding?
two. When i pull the PM sim carte to replace information technology with the Roam Mobility sim, will telephone call forwarding still work?

You may need the public sim in another telephone for forwarding to work. I had to practise that once with Koodo.

Since I'll exist in FL, I suppose I'd accept to leave that 2nd phone at home plugged in then.

The call forwarding feature stays in memory on the network setting until you change information technology. So earlier leaving to the US, ready the phone call forwarding to your VOIP service and reset it when you come back. During that fourth dimension, all your calls will frontwards to the VOIP service.

The text bulletin problem has been resolved some time ago. The only impediment is having to repurchase an improver and and so not being able to do it until after the first 1 expires. Alternate choice is to buy two dissimilar add-ons so that there is no reliance on decease of the first purchase.

Nosotros will exist traveling to Florida side by side week. 8 of us. Kids with tablets, and adults with tablets and phones. I got a Nigh-SIM card from Amazon. T-Mobile with unlimited data/calls/texts to be used in an old iPhone as a Hotspot. $32CAD all in. Pretty cheap for 8 people. I take already received it and scheduled my start date. A few of u.s.a. will also buy a PM United states roaming improver, simply simply talk or text, no information needed.

Too, every bit an afterthought - I have ordered one of those T-Mobile xxx twenty-four hours / 30GB costless mobile hotspot offers. I had to have that delivered to the place we are staying. It is there waiting for me. This volition be more of something to exam out equally opposed to a roaming solution.

Unfortunately, that tin but mean that phone call forwarding has non been setup properly. You lot could become someone you attempt to go you another Public Mobile sim carte du jour, and have that person resubmit the call forwarding request for you lot after switching your service to that new sim carte.

I did test information technology the day before I left and it worked perfectly. The trouble is that I tested information technology while in Canada. So I left the country with my phone and and it doesn't piece of work. I'm not in Canada now so I tin't test information technology but I even wonder if telephone call forwarding would work if I were at abode with my phone in airplane fashion.

I was sitting at the Montreal airport when I initiated telephone call forwarding. When I got to my hotel, I tried calling my cell phone and it went directly to vocalization mail like information technology does when my phone is turned off.

As for the PM customs, there are various threads on this topic with different answers.
Information technology seemed to me the threads weren't specially electric current.

Your phone must exist in Canada in lodge to call frontward. Otherwise, your number is not reachable and your call directed to your voicemail.
If yous setup call forrad when your number is not reachable, this may work if your phone is not in Canada and not on. Only I am not sure.
